May 2026

jaime,

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, let’s pause, reflect, and spend time with the people who matter most.  My life recently has been a good reminder that sustainable leadership starts with making and modelling behaviors.

Recently, it was to drop everything to make time for family with both an emergency surgery and an aunt that passed away suddenly.  Two other team members had emergencies with family too. Because of the culture we’ve consciously built around family first, the team around us covered as each of us supported our families. In the middle of it all, I had a long weekend to France planned and thought about cancelling but decided that it was Ok to put some boundaries up about how quickly things got handled and by who.  I found myself grinding my teeth this month and that was a sign I needed to take care of me.

We all have signs if we pay attention.   Well-being requires intention and sometimes difficult decisions about balance and boundaries.  Your team (and family) are watching you as the leader and role model setting the tone for your culture.

ICYMI: May Blog

Building a sustainable workplace starts with leaders who are willing to model the behaviors they want to see. In this month’s blog, Amy Arvary explores how leaders can set the tone for well-being by creating healthy boundaries, encouraging balance, and recognizing that performance is strongest when people have the space and support to recharge. Read the blog to learn how small leadership choices can send a powerful message about what your culture truly values.

Mindfulness is more than a moment of calm, it is a practical tool for self-awareness, emotional regulation, and sustainable well-being. Our Four Weeks to Developing Mindfulness course helps teams understand their mental patterns, evaluate their current experiences, and begin using techniques they can incorporate into daily life right away.

Through guided discussion, reflection, and meditation practice, this course gives space to pause, reset, and build habits that support greater presence, resilience, and balance at work.

Grateful To Support Organizations

Mental Health Association in New Jersey

We're proud to support this statewide nonprofit dedicated to helping children and adults achieve victory over mental illness and substance use disorders through advocacy, education, training, and services.

Their work aligns closely with our belief that mental health, well-being, and access to support are essential to building stronger workplaces and communities.

Morris Park Alliance -  Giving Shoes a Second Life

The Crothers team also supported the Morris Park Alliance with their shoe collection fundraiser to help replant trees throughout the Morris County Park System. New and gently used shoes will help fund the purchase of new trees and support the continued preservation of the parks and outdoor experiences.

This weekend also gives us an important opportunity to remember and honor the brave women and men who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. May we carry that gratitude with us as we enjoy the freedoms, communities, and connections they helped protect.

Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful and meaningful Memorial Day.

Warmly,

Laura
